Hellfest is a big annual 3-day metal festival held in Clisson, France. At first the event was called Furyfest and the 1st edition took place indoor in Clisson in 2002. There were just 400 tickets and they all were sold out. The organizers were deep in the hardcore scene, that’s why the first Furyfest was based on the skinhead, hardcore and punk performers, for example AGNOSTIC FRONT. Sold out is sold out and the this sudden success made the festival grow bigger next year. The second Furyfest took place in Nantes (the festival’s date conflicted with some other local event in Clisson) and had such acts like SICK OF IT ALL, YOUTH OF TODAY, GOJIRA, ENTOMBED and THE EXPLOITED. That was already a 2-day event and about 7.000 festival-goers made it an instant hit. The Furyfest 2004 took place in Le Mans, because it happened to be the only place to accept such a festival. The line-up had some major names such as SLIPKNOT, MORBID ANGEL, MESSHUGAH, FEAR FACTORY, SOULFLY, HATEBREED, DEICIDE, and TESTAMENT. 2005 saw the Furyfest progressing up to the height unseen before: there were already 3 stages instead of 2 and the festival was headlined by SLAYER, MOTORHEAD, JELLO BIAFFRA WITH THE MELVINS, ANTHRAX, DIMMU BORGIR, IN FLAMES, PENNYWISE, THE MISFITS and some others. 30.000 people attended the event, but unfortunately on this point the festival came to the end because of big financial problems… Read more »
